Subject: Galatians
Chapter 6
Theme: We
are not justified by observing the Law of Moses (Gal.3:17) or other
basic principles of this world’s
religion (Gal.4:3); but by the faith of Jesus the Christ who lives in
us. (Gal. 4:6 and John 14:23). For while we were still sinners the
Father called us and drew us to Christ (John 6:44), the Holy Spirit
brought us to the sacrifice of Christ showing us that we were under the death
penalty; but God in His Mercy have provided us a Deliverance through His Son. (
John 16:13, Heb.7:27, 8:14, and 10:5-10). We then having repented of our
sins (Acts 2:38) - put our faith in the promise of God (Gal.3:14) - that
Christ died for our sins (Gal.4:4), and we all were baptized into Christ
Jesus (Acts 1:5 and Gal.3:26).
Are “doctrines of men” and “traditions of men” included in the phrase
“basic principles of the world”? (see Mark 7:8-9)
Galatians 6:1
- The definition for spiritual here is mature Christian versus babe in Christ (I
Cor.3:1-3). If we are mature then we must help to mend the wounds of sin of
our brethren.
Why should we watch ourselves?
How can we be tempted?
Gal. 6:2 -
How can we fulfill the Law of Christ? What is meant by “carry each other’s
burdens”?
Gal. 6:3-5 -
Do not look down on others in
the faith (I Cor.11:27-32). We should compare ourselves to Christ rather
than our fellow Christians (2Cor.10:4-7,12). Remembering that we all
shall stand before the judgment seat of Christ (Rom.14:10-13).
How should we think of
ourselves? (Matt.18:3 and Matt.20:25-28)
Note: Remember also
Paul had to confront Peter for his behavior in looking down upon the
Galatians by observing the Law of Moses rather than
the Law of Christ (Gal.6:2), and
Accepting the faith of the Gentiles as Christ had
accepted them (Gal.2:11-14,17 and
Rom.
12:16).
What is the truth of the
gospel? (Gal.2:4-5, 10, 15-16, 20)
Gal.6:6 - This
one seems out of place, but see Gal.1:1-2 and Gal. 4:13-16 (see
also I Cor.9:1-12 and I Tim.5:17-18).
What should we share with our
instructors?
Gal.6:7-8 - Reaping
what we sow - see 2Cor.9:6-9; Rom.8:12-15 and Rom.5:19-21. Acts
of the sinful nature can be found in Gal.5:19-21,26 (note v.26 this is
the attitude of all too many at times in the Christian faith). We must live by
faith expressing itself through acts of love see Gal.22-23 and Matt.25:45.
What is your reward for sowing
generously? (2 Cor.9:8) What does this include?
Gal.6:9-10 - We
must not lose faith in the promises of God through Christ. For we all will be
blessed with believing Abraham if we do not give up hope in the resurrection (Gal.3:26-29,
I Cor.15:2-5,19-23 and 2Tim.4:7-8). We must do good towards everyone both
believer and unbeliever (I Tim.5:7-8 and I Pet.4:17-19)
Are instructors included in
phrase “belong to the family of believers”?
What are some reasons for us
growing weary? What do you think the phrase “doing good” mean?
Note: The law of
Christ is this that we should have faith in Christ by expressing it in acts of
Love to our brothers and sisters and our fellow
humans - God Himself lives among
The poor and despised; and Christ counts Himself
as one them (See also Prov.14:31, 19:17;
Ps.146:7, Matt.25:31-46).
